New York.
Infrastructure and Footage Control
Each editor works on a dedicated physical workstation, not a virtualized instance. Avid Media Composer or Adobe Premiere, connected to centralized media on shared storage, configured for offline editorial. In a multi-editor environment on an unscripted show, that distinction matters. Complex timelines on shared media require real hardware.
Your media is centralized at ECD. Editors connect remotely. The session runs local. The footage does not move.
Systems and storage scale with the demands of your production. One editor at the start, a full team as the show builds. All on the same shared environment.
For production, this changes how post is managed:
Your footage remains under production control throughout
Editorial staff can change without disrupting the system
New editors are onboarded into the same environment immediately
Physical media intake can be part of your workflow. Drives arrive and are copied to shared storage the same day, with a secondary copy made immediately. Productions working with archival footage on tape can ship it here. Any format, any era. Digitization and ingest happen in-house, moving directly into the editorial pipeline.
In-person editing sessions are available when a project requires it.
How We Work
ECD can provide full post infrastructure or integrate into an existing workflow. Our team can provide some or all of the following.
Media intake and ingest. Drives or tape delivered to ECD. Media copied to shared storage the same day, with immediate redundancy. Tape in any format digitized and ingested on-site.
Editorial environment setup. Workstations configured to spec: Avid or Premiere, shared storage, user accounts. Tested and ready before the first editor logs in. Systems added as the team grows.
Remote editorial. Editors connect to dedicated hardware via secure remote access. Direct connection to centralized media. Real-time review from the same infrastructure.
Assistant editor support. A la carte AE services: media organization, syncing, grouping, transcoding, prep for picture lock. Available without committing to full-time staffing.
Delivery and archive. Deliverables to spec: export for color and finishing, final output, or both. Archive to LTO, drive, or cloud per production requirements. Media stays at ECD until the archive is confirmed complete.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can video editing be done remotely?
Yes. East Coast Digital provides dedicated workstations and shared storage accessible via secure remote access. The session behaves like a local one. What changes is where the footage lives: on ECD's systems, not on an individual editor's machine. That distinction matters for production control, scheduling, and material security throughout the project.
Is remote editing as good as in-person editing?
On a well-configured system, yes. In one respect it is better. When footage lives at a managed facility rather than with an individual editor, production retains access regardless of editorial changes. An editor leaves the project. The footage does not. A replacement editor is on the same system the next day. The infrastructure outlasts the relationship.
How much does it cost to hire an editing suite?
East Coast Digital prices on a project basis. Scope determines cost: number of editors, project duration, storage requirements, and deliverable complexity. No long-term commitments, no minimum engagement. Tell us what you are running and we will scope it. Contact us to discuss your project.
